この電気機関車はゴッタルド峠用にスイス国鉄（SBB）が開発した試作機のひとつです。Ae8/14形は1931年から1938年にかけて11801号機、11851号機、11852号機と3タイプ製造されましたが、この模型は製作当時世界最大の11,000馬力を誇った11852号機をプロトタイプにしています。

この模型ではシャングリ・ラ鉄道初のカルダンドライブに挑戦しています。実車同様、パイプ状になった車軸の中にもう1本の軸を通し、変位を吸収する構造になっています。おそらくカルダンドライブを実現した模型の世界初の実行例と思います。

This electric locomotive is one of the prototypes developed by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) for the Gotthard Pass. Three types of Ae8 / 14 were manufactured from 1931 to 1938: 11801, 11851, and 11852, but this model is a prototype of 11852, which boasted the world's largest 11,000 horsepower at the time of production. In this model, we are challenging the first cardan drive of Shangri-La Railway. Like the actual vehicle, it has a structure that absorbs displacement by passing another shaft through the pipe-shaped axle. Probably the world's first execution example of a model that realized Cardan Drive.
