1935年、東武日光線が開通した時の新造電車で、信太郎も子どものころ、日光まで遠足に行ったときに初めてのっています。このデハ10形は、浅草から日光に直通する特急列車として使用されていましたが、戦争が激化してきた1942年にロングシートに改造され、一般車に格下げされてしまいます。

戦後、再びクロスシートに復元され、特急列車に返り咲きますが、それもつかの間。後継車の登場によって日光特急から引退、東上線の特急や伊勢崎線の急行などに転線しながら1996年まで使用されていました。

It was a new train when Tobu-Nikko opened in 1935, and Nobutaro was the first to go on an excursion to Nikko when he was a child. This Deha 10 type was used as a limited express train that goes directly from Asakusa to Nikko, but in 1942 when the war intensified, it was converted to a long seat and downgraded to a general car. After the war, it was restored to the cross seat again and returned to the limited express train, but for a while. With the advent of the successor car, it retired from the Nikko Limited Express, and was used until 1996 while switching to the Tobu Line Limited Express and the Isesaki Line Express.
